When it comes to developing elite hockey talent, the Elite Hockey Academy (EHA) at PSM Icehouse stands out as a game changer. One inspiring example is Carter Schoegler, whose journey through the EHA program highlights how dedication, expert coaching, and a comprehensive training approach can elevate a player to the top of their game.
From PSM Force Beginnings to National Development Camp
Carter began his hockey career playing in the PSM Force Travel Hockey program as a young athlete. Through the EHA program’s specialized training, he refined his skills and improved his game, gaining a deeper understanding of how to practice and compete at a high level.
His hard work and the strategic guidance from EHA staff paid off when Carter earned an invitation to the prestigious USA Hockey Boys National 15 Camp. This camp is one of the most selective in the country, accepting only the top 0.08% of players. Being chosen is not just an honor but a testament to Carter’s elite skills and relentless commitment.
What Made the Difference? EHA’s Unique Approach to Training
Tommy Schoegler, Carter’s father, credits EHA’s program design and instruction as a “game changer” in his son’s development.
He explains, “The program design and instruction that was provided to our son through the EHA has been a true difference maker. The extra ice is always great, but the way it has been used is the key. The EHA staff has taught the players how to practice, and the attention to detail on fundamentals has been phenomenal. The EHA does a good job of offering a variety of development from skills and battles on the ice to yoga off the ice. Because of the diversity of training, it’s a great compliment to their team training and doesn’t become repetitive. Participating in the EHA was a game changer for our son.”
This diverse approach prevented training from becoming repetitive, keeping players engaged while complementing their team practices perfectly.

A Word from Hockey Director Cam Wirick

He continuously pushed himself to improve, embraced every challenge, and represents the heart of what the Elite Hockey Academy stands for. We are proud to support players like Carter who pursue excellence on and off the ice.”
Carter’s Performance at the National Camp
At the National Development Camp, Carter demonstrated his growth by leading his team in points, scoring 6 points in 4 games—including 4 goals, one of which was a short-handed hat trick—showcasing his ability to perform under pressure. His resilience, focus, and skill on the ice impressed coaches and teammates alike.
The Road Ahead: Building on Success
Carter’s story is far from over. His journey through the EHA has equipped him with the skills and mindset needed to pursue his hockey dreams, and he continues to train hard for the upcoming seasons. His progress exemplifies the opportunities available through the Elite Hockey Academy at PSM Icehouse.
We are incredibly proud of Carter’s remarkable achievements and wish him continued success as he advances in his hockey career.
