Bridge to League Play

Hockey League Prep

LEARN THE GAME

PSM Icehouse Hockey League Prep is designed for players who are ready to better understand how hockey works before stepping into league play.

This program goes beyond basic skills by focusing on how the game is played. Players develop awareness, positioning, and decision-making while learning how to compete in real game situations.

Hockey League Prep helps players build confidence by connecting their skills to actual gameplay and teaching them what to do and where to go on the ice.

Class Overview

Each session is designed to help players learn and understand the game through a combination of skating, gameplay, and off-ice education.

Players will participate in:

  • Power Skating (30 minutes)
Focused on edges, balance, and skating efficiency to build strong movement habits
  • Gameplay and Small-Area Competition (40 minutes)
3v3 and 5v5 play with an emphasis on battles, puck support, and decision-making
  • Off-Ice Learning (30 minutes)
Video and discussion covering positioning, rules, team play, and hockey awareness
Why League Prep

Hockey League Prep fills that gap by teaching:

  • How to read the play

  • How to make decisions with and without the puck

This program also helps parents better understand the game, making the transition into league play more enjoyable for everyone.

  • Players preparing for Fundamentals and Youth Instructional League
  • Players who want to better understand how the game works
